We look forward to welcoming our students and employees back to our schools tomorrow, January 3, 2022. As I’m sure you are aware, the positivity rate of the COVID-19 Omicron variant is rising rapidly in our state and parish, and the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) is recommending that masks be worn by all employees and students in schools and offices due to the increase of COVID-19 Omicron cases. The health and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority. As such, we strongly recommend and encourage all students and employees to wear masks indoors and outside when social distancing is not possible. Masking remains mandatory on all buses. If we experience an increase in COVID cases within our schools, we will consider reinstating the mask mandate. As a reminder, any person who is positive or exhibiting symptoms should remain home to avoid exposing others. We have updated our quarantine and isolation protocols to follow the latest guidelines from the CDC, which allows for a shorter isolation and quarantine time. We will continue to monitor the situation and work closely with local health officials, the Louisiana Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to make any necessary adjustments to our guidance as the situation evolves. We look forward to a great start to 2022, and we thank you for entrusting your child to the St. Bernard Parish Public School System. As always, stay well, stay informed, and let’s continue work to keep the unity in our community.
